UAC와 개인 방화벽을 같이 사용할 필요가 있을까요?? |

Windows Vista부터 UAC(User Account Control)가 등장했고
Windows 7에서도 계속 유지되는데요.
Windows 내장 방화벽이 아닌 상용 개인 방화벽(예를 들어 Outpost Firewall, Comodo Firewall, PC Tools Firewall 등)을 사용하고 있는 유저의 경우에도
UAC 기능을 사용할 필요가 있을까요??

질문이 약간 애매합니다.
3rd party firewall S/W들은 상당히 많은 기능들을 가지고 있지만 그것들을 어떻게 구성해서 사용하느냐에 따라 보호의 편차는 아주 커질 수도 있습니다.
UAC가 하는 일을 정확히 알고 있고,
그와 같은 기능이 사용하는 상용 방화벽 소프트웨어에서 지원되고 있고,
그러한 기능을 활성화 시켜놓고 있다면
당연히 UAC를 불필요하게 중복사용할 필요는 없겠지요. |

제 경우 백신은 Eset NOD32를 사용하고 있고
방화벽은 PC Tools Firewall을 사용중입니다.
제가 그동안 백신중에서 Norton, McAfee, BitDefent, Avast, NOD32를 사용해 봤고
방화벽은 Outpost, Comodo, PC Tools Firewall을 사용해 봤습니다.
매달 나오는 윈도우 업데이트 설치하고
믿을만한 백신을 설치하고 매일 업데이트하고
개인 방화벽 설치해서 사용해 보니까
백신이 악성 파일 다 잡아 주고
개인 방화벽이 어떤 프로그램 설치할때 내 시스템에서 무얼 건드리지 다 체크되더군요.
개인 방화벽 기능이 UAC 보다 더 강력한데
굳이 UAC 기능을 켜 놓을 필요가 있을까 하는 생각이 들더군요..

같이 쓸 필요가 없다고 느껴진다면 그대로 하시면 됩니다.
저라면 UAC를 택하겠지만(윈도가 좀 멍청해서 UAC를 껐을 때 약간 생뚱맞은 전혀 다른 기능이 이상 동작한다는걸 본거 같은데 잘 기억이 안 나네요. 이 부분은 고수분이..) 이건 순전히 기호이므로 본인의 기호에 따르시면 됩니다.
백신이든 뭐든 보안 관련 프로그램은 사용자가 똑똑하면 아무 필요가 없다고들 하시죠.
3사 방화벽 만으로 원하는 목적을 달성할 수 있다면야 당연히 그렇게 하시면 되겠네요. |

예전에는 방화벽이고 다 신경 썼는데...
요즘엔 그냥 방화벽이고 백신 등 없이, UAC 끄고 사용합니다.
간혹 의심 가는 파일은 Sandboxie나 VMWare 안에서 실행합니다.
굳이 방화벽하고 UAC를 선택하라면 UAC 손을 들어주고 싶네요. 조금 귀찮은(?) 기능이긴 해도 비스타에서 개인적으로 마음에 들었던 부분 중 하나... |

UAC가 Comodo Firewall 등 개인 방화벽보다 더 강력하고 믿을만하다는 건지??
아니면 UAC 기능을 켜 둠으로 인해 개인 방화벽은 필요없다는 건지??
그게 궁금합니다??

국내 웹사이트는 아무리 검색해 봐도 해답이 안 나와서 외국 사이트를 검색해 봤습니다.
아래 원문이 있는데,
종합해 보면 "Windows XP 이후 Vista가 출시되면서 UAC, Window Defender 등 훌륭한 보안기능이 포함되었으나
아직까지는 third-Party Firewall이 더 추천된다."
정도로 해석됩니다..

With Windows Vista, Security Center has been improved dramatically.

Both features protect your system differently.
Firewalls(여기서는 윈도우 자체 방화벽을 말함) are port blockers which prevent malicious programs and hackers from gaining control of your system.
The UAC layer, on the other hand, is the next layer of defense in the event that a malicious program tries to install on your machine.
Since permission is required to install any application that needs to access the administrative account, it prevents unauthorized programs from gaining control of your PC.
